They may not be your traditional flying figurines in capes, but strawberries are DEFINITELY superfoods. They help control the metabolic rate, fight cancer, regulate blood pressure and prevent inflammation (high-five for heart health!), and whiten teeth. Who knew, right? If you’re a lot like me, then you understand the struggle when you constantly crave sweets. Attempting to find snacks other than candy, cake and cookies that are healthy and also satisfy that ridiculous sugar tooth is extremely hard. Sometimes fruit just doesn’t cut it. But no worries, there are alternatives.
Sometimes fruits need a little push. Adding a graham cracker, some yogurt or peanut butter will usually do the trick. Strawberries are a great fruit to use for sweetness, and they’re very diverse because you can put them in countless healthy treats.
My favorite strawberry recipe is the Katy Perry PB&J Strawberry Smoothie. I mean it does have a cosign from Katy Perry (the queen of wearing sugary themed outfits), so that means it has to be great, right? Not only will this strawberry recipe satisfy that sweet tooth, but it’s also healthy, so you won’t feel the guilt after!
Here’s the recipe:
2 cups fresh strawberries
1 frozen banana, chopped
2 teaspoons peanut butter
4 ounces fat-free plain Greek yogurt or fat-free milk
1/2 cup ice cubes
Mix them all in a blender, then Wala! Magic.
Between the strawberries, yogurt and bananas you will have plenty of sweet, and the peanut butter should stay any of your other sweet cravings.
